Cinderella to CEO™ Awards Launches on Carnival Dream

Nation-wide Call for Award Nominations Open for Women Who

Feb. 10, 2019 - New Orleans, La - Nominations for the Cinderella to CEO™ Awards opened aboard the Carnival Dream cruise ship with the help of a few fairy godmothers and their nominees today.

A celebration of women who have broken through barriers, The Cinderella to CEO nationwide tour "to lift others up" kicked off in New Orleans on Sunday, February 10th to encourage women who have transformed a community, business or industry to nominate themselves for the inaugural awards.

"Inspired by the book From Cinderella to CEO, and the classic fairy tales that we all know, these new breakthrough awards recognize women with real-life transformational stories who are making their mark and changing the world for the better," said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, a member of the nominating committee for Cinderella to CEO Awards and founder of Carnival's internal women's program,"AspiringWomen."

Other members of the Cinderella to CEO nominating committee include Judy Hendrick, Executive Vice President and CFO of Aimbridge Hospitality and founder of the company's WLEAD leadership program for women and Samantha Saperstein, head of Chase Bank's Women on the Move.

The organizers of the Cinderella to CEO Awards are encouraging everyone throughout the U.S. to nominate women with real-life, transformational stories who are changing the world for the better. "Like the Brothers Grimm, who traveled far and wide in the 1800's collecting real stories, mainly from women, now is the time to collect modern day stories from real life Cinderellas," said Cary Broussard, producer of the Cinderella to CEO Awards event, planned for August 2019 in New York City.

Tour stops to gather nominations currently include New Orleans, Dallas, Miami, Memphis, Nashville and New York. (More stops may be added). Launch sponsors include Aimbridge Hospitality, Carnival Cruise Line, Chase Bank, Red Roof Inns, and Broussard Global Communications.

There is no cost to enter or nominate women for the nine, individual categories of the Cinderella to CEO Awards. Each category champions an area of transformational accomplishment and empowerment by women. However, there is a category to reward teamwork, the Hansel and Gretel Award for which men can be nominated.  Finalists will be named in each of the nine fairy tale categories. From those nine finalists, one will be chosen and eligible for the Cinderella to CEO Grand Prize Award. The names of the nine finalists will be announced by the Cinderella to CEO™ judges in New York on June 3, 2019.

Finalists' prizes include a commemorative Cinderella to CEO award, a ticket and transportation to the Cinderella to CEO Award show in New York, and an assigned network of advisory coaches and mentors from the Cinderella to CEO W.A.N.D. Ambassador team. The Cinderella to CEO™ grand prize package will be announced on June 3rd.

Synopsis of each Cinderella to CEO Award category: 

Beauty and the Beast Award - Transformed a seemingly hopeless situation into a beautiful opportunity.

Thumbelina Award - Performed an outstanding, ethical act, bringing positive results to another individual, a community, organization or industry.

Sleeping Beauty Award - Improved access to services that improved social and economic opportunities in an innovative way for a vulnerable population or group(s).

Snow White Award - Solved a business problem or created a business by uniting hearts and minds in an innovative way.

Swim with the Swans Award - Developed a product or a system that fundamentally improved the environment.

Climbing the Beanstalk Award - Cultivated an innovative business model or system that improved or enhanced work-life balance.

Hansel & Gretel Award - Used extraordinary foresight and vision to blaze a new path and navigate tough circumstances. The category is open to women and men working as a team.

Red Riding Hood Award - Nominated for her ability to produce under pressure.

Rapunzel Award - Utilized her voice to uplift others.

Cinderella CEO Grand Prize Award - The grand prize winner "never gives up," and has individually or with a team, instituted a remarkable transformation of one's own life, a business, community or industry.

Background and About the Awards

The Cinderella to CEO Awards are inspired by the book, From Cinderella to CEO, How to Master the 10 Lessons of Fairy Tales to Transform Your Work Life, authored by Cary J. Broussard with co-writer Anita Bell. The book has been published in ten languages (Wiley). Ms. Broussard, a New York University adjunct professor, and speaker, has been recognized for her award-winning women's marketing programs and inclusive leadership work.
